Omen Dice

Dice as an astrolabe. The ring is the control.

The game

The first table in the Omen family — instant-win games drawn as instruments rather than widgets. Omen Dice is a ring graduated 0 to 100 with the winning rolls swept out in gold, and the ring is the control: drag its handle, or type into the linked Target, Chance and Pays fields and watch the arc answer.

Roll under or roll over, anywhere from a near-certainty to a long shot, with the win chance and the payout always shown as the same fact in two forms.

It is deliberately small. The whole app is around 25 KB of JavaScript gzipped, which is what a game has to be to open instantly on a mid-range phone on a slow network.

How it plays

  1. 01

    Choose a target

Drag the ring, or type a target, a win chance or the payout you want — the three are the same number.

  2. 02

    Pick a side

Under or over. The boundary is strict both ways: a roll equal to the target loses either way, and the copy says so.

  3. 03

    Roll

The comet orbits while the server is read, then settles on the roll. One press, one answer.

In the build

What we made sure of.

  • The ring is both the readout and the control
  • Target, chance and payout are linked fields — change one, the others follow
  • Bounds come from the published configuration, never from constants in the client
  • Opens fast enough to be a between-rounds game, not a destination

Questions about Omen Dice

What happens on a roll exactly equal to the target?

It loses, under and over alike — so "under 49.50" means 49.50% and "over 49.50" means 49.49%. The client states the boundary rather than rounding it away.
